IYLIA Lager: A Labor of Love
I love beer—like, really love beer. When I was creating IYLIA, I knew I wanted to craft something very special and unique for the brand.
What’s fantastic now is that I’m living in a place with a very strong beer culture. When you visit Spain, you'll find that the Spanish often start a meal by requesting a ‘Caña’—a roughly 6.7-ounce glass of beer on tap. It’s so authentically Spanish to open your meal this way.
I wanted to create a lager for IYLIA, so it was just a matter of time before I could create the lager of my dreams. Our IYLIA Lager had to have very high carbonation, with notes of tobacco and a smoky finish, and a deep, gorgeous caramel color. And of course, because I love putting a lot into the design of our collection, I wanted the bottle to look almost like jewelry.
We work with a small, privately owned, artisanal brewery that has set aside space specifically for our collection. As with almost all products in our collection, I’m collaborating with a master brewer. Carlos, who is now retired, spent 25 years working for Mahou, an authentically Spanish company. We had several discussions, going back and forth about what this product would be. We went through several iterations, but I knew exactly what I wanted to create, and we nailed it. Honestly, our IYLIA Lager is sensational.
Our IYLIA Lager is one of the products I’m most proud of creating. It’s simply sensational, and I know you are going to love it. As with every single product in our collection, it’s ecologically produced, meaning we use the least amount of chemicals from the growth of the ingredients to production.
My team and I oversee the entire collection, and we put an enormous amount of care into everything we create for IYLIA.
